We collect you from your home or guest house in the city and head along the R27 towards the West Coast National Park. We go into Postberg Flower Reserve, which is only open during he months of August and September. Postberg is famous for the superb display of Spring Flowers ; the healthy animals you can see on the plains, the views of the sea at Plaantjiesbaai and the wonderful view of ever-growing Langebaan from view site at the top of the reserve. A day spent in the West Coast
National Park viewing the spring flowers, is one you will not easily forget! We enjoy a lunch at the Geelbek Restaurant before checking into our guest house in Langebaan. (L/D/E).
Our second day finds us traveling to Clanwilliam, 180km from Langebaan. Arrival will be in time to view the annual spring flower show in the Dutch Reformed Church (Die Blomkerk), FLOWERS, FLOWERS AND MORE FLOWERS: Set against the backdrop of the gothic architecture of the former Clanwilliam Dutch Reformed Church, the spring flower show features about 400 species from more than 30 families of plants found in the world-renowned Fynbos Biome, some of which are completely unique to the area, like the snow protea, the Clanwilliam cedar tree and rooibos. The spring flowers are expertly arranged and conveniently displayed in one location to give visitors the best view of nature’s season of rebirth. The exhibition is well worth the visit. There will also be time to do some tea ’gathering’ at the Rooibos Tea House, before we check into our lodge in Vanrhynsdorp, in the late afternoon. (B/L/D/E).
Today we spend time exploring Nieuwoudtville, which is 50km away, over over Vanrhynspass—we must stop in at the Baghdad café just before the pass, sometime today! This quirky roadside stall is very interesting and a “must-see” Early morning coffee in the Quiver Tree Forest followed by a visit to the Nieuwoudtville waterfall (spectacular at this time of the year) – lunch at the Dutch Reformed Church bazaar.
