For our New Year break away we have reserved 6 rooms at Gubas De Hoek in central Robertson. In addition we have secured another 3 bedrooms in a fabulous house on the Robertson golf course called Hook Shot Lodge! (& if necessary a further 3 bedroom house right next door—Lavender Cottage). This we believe, will give us the best option of making you all happy with accommodation! Right now we do need commitment by 1st September. If a few of are prepared to share, this will make our lives a whole lot easier (to sort out the accommodation).
Day 1: Sunday 30th December
We will head out of Cape Town by about 09h30 to 10h00 and have lunch somewhere en route to Robertson! (Included). Settle into our accommodation in Robertson and enjoy dinner at Bourbon Street Restaurant where the vibe is always great (& the food not too bad either)!
Day 2: Monday 31st December
We will enjoy a hearty breakfast and then head out exploring! Owl’s Rest Oil and Lavender farm will be a good stop. It is nestled in the foothills of the Langeberg mountains in the Klaasvoogds River valley. Visitors get the opportunity to experience a working lavender farm where Lavender, Rosemary and Rose Geranium are harvested by hand and then steam distilled to extract the beautiful essential oils and floral water from these crops. Alongside the aforementioned products, the farm offers its own smooth blend of fresh extra virgin olive oil, delicious table olives and tapenades and some unusual and delicious fruit preserves. The farm also has a growing fan base for its unique herbal cordials perfect mixer for your Gin or to make a favourite Cocktail! At lunchtime we will book you on a River Cruise (included) at Viljoensdrift—we will select delicatessen items to take with us on the cruise – lovely way to spend the last lunchtime of the year! Good company – perfect setting. In the late afternoon we will return to our accommodation! Get yourself ready for the last day of the year and Dinner & Brass Band (Included).
Day 3: Tuesday 1st January
Today we’ll get up a bit later and enjoy a leisurely breakfast. We’ll take a ride through to McGregor and have tea / coffee / scones at Lords Guest House in such a beautiful position in the hills above McGregor. I’m still trying to find places for us to visit in McGregor but otherwise we will relax in the gardens at Gubas de Hoek / Hook Shot Lodge. Normally in most towns everything is closed on New Year’s Day so this evening we’ll enjoy a dinner at Gubas de Hoek in their beautiful garden OR if we have sufficient people to hire the house on Hook Shot Lodge, Brian will do a Braai for us!
Day 4: Wednesday 2nd January
After breakfast we are going to head back to Cape Town but this time on the little road that links Robertson / Bonnievale / Swellendam to the N2. Along our route we will have plenty of time to stop at some good ‘collecting’ points—Zandvliet Estate (they make Clemengold Gin) ; The Montagne Deli where you purchase fabulous cheese to take home.
On arrival in cape Town we will have shuttles waiting to transfer you to your home (guest house).
