Firstly, let’s get the order straight!
Jam & Wine at Imbuko Wines in Wellington followed by lunch at the Blacksmith’s Kitchen in Paarl!
Brian and I were very impressed with the Imbuko Wine Estate in Wellington on the Uitkyk Farm (or strangely as the road sign to the farm said KYKUIT Farm)—whichever way you look at it they have an amazing view from the farm! Their mantra is “A farm that cares” and you can ‘feel it’ on arrival. We will meet Elsabe (’n regte Boeremeisie) who, after rearing her family discovered a passion to make jams from some of their wines! What about Pinotage/ Shiraz or Merlot jam on your toast in the morning? She also bottles olives and olive oil and even does sultana marinade which her sister uses at their butchery in town for their pork chops! Come and hear from Elsabe all about her products and do a jam tasting! Learn more about BUCHU—UITKYK is the largest grower of this in the area!
After our jam tasting we will travel through to Paarl and enjoy lunch together at the Blacksmith’s Kitchen (another super ‘find’ )—a cozy Bistro type restaurant situated in old Blacksmith’s cottages on the Pearl Mountain wine estate! How very lucky we are to live in the Western Cape!
