ROUTE 62 -2010
9th - 12th March 2010

Days 3 & 4

Early Thursday morning started off overcast.  We went along to Trossachs Guest House - now called The Lords Guest House.  This charming guest house has a wonderful position with views over McGregor and Robertson;.  A few of us walked up to their chapel which has a special feel about it..  The wedding book in the bares testimony to the many happy functions held there!

This stone chapel is really on the top of the world.  Linda and Ann decided to sit in comfort and catch up with some reading whilst the rest of us walked around the property.  Tea and coffee was shared before we drove down to Kings River Estate and then finally ended up in McGregor mid morning.

Temenos was our first port-of-call.  The wonderful gardens provided well needed shade and Margot took the opportunity to sit and rest  and was soon joined by some ducks. (not old ducks!)

Bridget is always keen to play the fool and she and Joy found an oleander and played 'hide-and-seek' - some people will go to any length to avoid having their photograph taken.  We spent a wonderful day in McGregor with a good lunch at Tebaldis.  By now the weather had cleared up and clear skies with heat emerged. After a wine tasting at Graham Beck everyone was quite ready to return to their respective guest house to have a rest/swim/reflexology treatment, to while away an hour or two.

Dinner tonight was back in McGregor - even though we had to drive back and forth from Robertson to McGregor twice in one day, it was made even more special by our charming hosts at Karoux Restaurant where nothing was too much trouble!  The meals that came out of their kitchen were  excellent as the plate of prawns with garlic/lemon butter sauce and vegetables, shows!

Christiaan our coach driver who made everyone comfortable - his knowledge of history, geography and even his music choice on the way home from McGregor after dinner made our time in Robertson so much more special.  Linda, Denise and Trish again ready to smile for that d#@$% photographer!

All too soon we were back at the N1 garage shop where our trusty friends, Hylton Ross were ready with their second vehicle to transport the Constantia/Camps Bay ladies home.  "Wow I couldn't have bought ALL this" said Bridget in disbelief.

At the end of this tour everyone felt that it was a very relaxed way to spend 4 days in the company of wonderful friends.

Everyone knows of the power of friends,
The terrific result, when everything blends.
When people have friends, they don’t stand alone;
Friends always help, when you face the unknown.
