We fly directly from Cape Town to
Nelspruit
(KMIA – Kruger Mpumulanga
International)
on the morning of
Tuesday 10th
May where we will be met
and transported to
Hippo Hollow Lodge
in Hazyview.
Hylton Ross associates
Thompsons Africa will be
handling all our land
arrangements whilst in
the area. |
|
On the approach to
KMIA
you
can be forgiven for thinking
that you are landing at a luxury
lodge in the Kruger Park. The
thatched terminal buildings
really do have that luxury lodge
feel |
|
|
|
We check in to
Hippo Hollow
in Hazyview, our base for our stay in
the area. We have requested chalets
which overlook the Sabie River. (There
were hippos outside our room during our
visit). |
|
|
|
At 3pm we board our open vehicles for a
Sunset Spectacular
trip into the Kruger Park, where we will
look for game and at sunset enjoy a
sundowner, before continuing to
Nkambeni Tented Camp for a
Shabeen theme meal in their boma, whilst
listening to the Marimba band. |
|
Day 2: Wednesday
11th. |
|
|
 |
 |
|
After breakfast our transport will
collect us for a full day out on the
Panorama Route,
taking in
Graskop, Gods Window, Berlin Falls &
Bourkes Luck Potholes.
Lunch will be at the
Kadisi restaurant
in the Forever Resort overlooking the
Three Rondavels.
|
|
|
We aim to be back at
Hippo Hollow by late
afternoon for a
refreshing swim, before
being entertained by the
Chief of the Shangaan
Tribe and his Dancers
followed by an Out of
Africa buffet dinner in
the boma. Guest
participation is
encouraged |
|
Day 3: Thursday 12th |
|
 |
 |
|
|
Thompsons Africa have
arranged
open vehicles
to take us into the
Kruger National Park
for the day. A picnic
lunch will be available
within the Kruger Park.
In the late afternoon we
will return to Hazyview,
with enough time to stop
at the
Perry’s Bridge Shopping
Centre
where some super shops
are available to tempt
you! Dinner tonight
will be at
Kuka Restaurant
in this centre. |
|
Day 4: Friday 13th |
|
|
|
After breakfast we pass
through Graskop again –
but this time we will
head to
Pilgrims Rest.
We have arranged a short
tour of one of the
mansions of a bygone
era. Pilgrims Rest is a
quaint mining village
and there is plenty to
keep you occupied here.
A light lunch will be
served at the
Royal Hotel
– in fact,
you have to enjoy a
pre-lunch drink in their
bar.
Dinner tonight will be
at
Hippo Hollow
(or a local restaurant). |
|
Day 5: Saturday 14th |
|
 |
|
|
Today we have an early start to
the bottom of the Canyon for the
Blyde Canyon & Endangered
Species Tour.
Enjoy the splendor of the third
largest Canyon in the world. An
interpretation tour by a tour
guide will take you to the rare
living
Kadishi Tufa waterfall
and the Three Rondawels.
An abundance of wildlife will
keep you distracted while
learning more about the natural
history of the Blyde Canyon. A
light lunch and boat cruise is
included before returning to
Hazyview.
Dinner tonight will be at Hippo
Hollow. |
|
|
Day 6: Sunday 15th |
 |
|
|
Enjoy an early breakfast – we need to be
at
Elephant Whispers
at 09h00 for their elephant interaction
tour. This tour lasts an hour and you
will experience the thrill of being
close to these magnificent creatures and
witness their intelligence, their
compassionate nature and sheer delight
in interacting with their human
counterparts. You will be able to touch
the elephant, exchange trunk greetings
and even offer them tasty treats.
Experienced elephant handlers share
their in-depth knowledge of fascinating
elephant behavior. |
|
After Elephant Whispers visit we
transfer to KMIA airport for our
lunch-time flight back to Cape Town.
Hylton Ross Shuttles will be waiting at
Cape town airport to transport us back
to our homes. |
