WEST COAST ART |
|
 |
|
160kms from Cape Town lies the little hamlet village of
Jacobsbaai. It
is a fisherman’s haven
with the azure Atlantic
Ocean providing an
abundance of seafood,
like crayfish, hottentot,
galjoen and black
mussels. |
|
It is also the home of DENIS
HILTON LEES –
a professional artist
and art teacher. He
teaches art to adults at
his home studio, is the
vice chairman of the
West Coast Arts Guild,
and exhibits his work at
various galleries.
Denis is inspired by his
surroundings and finds
subject matter in the
landscapes and seascapes
around him. Denis was
born in Zimbabwe and
grew up in JHB. He
studied art and design
at the University of the
Witwatersrand. After
JHB he moved to Knysna
where he opened an art
school and taught art
and design to high
school pupils and
adults. He was also the
head of the Art
Department at Oakhill
High School during this
time. He has lived on
the West Coast for 5
years, and before this
he had a very successful
art school for adults in
Cape Town called Art’s
Cool “Life is all
about balance. I feel
balanced living on the
West Coast” |

For some this will be a follow up to
their first course offered in February
2011. We even had some novices last
year, so don't despair if you are new to
art; come along and enjoy the West
Coast, it's people, scenery and the
companionship of fellow "painters".
