|
Planning for our proposed tour to the Victoria Falls on the
Zambian side is now
complete.
We can now confirm the
following itinerary
to allow you to finalise
your plans. |
|
Day 1: Sunday |
|
|
|
There is no direct flight from Cape Town
to Livingstone in Zambia. We will need
to route via Oliver Tambo where the SAA
flight leaves at 10h40 in the morning.
An early afternoon flight today will
allow us to have a leisurely breakfast
on the Monday before our flight. We can
even arrange a trip on the
Gautrain
today for the un-initiated. A great
experience! |
|
Day 2: Monday |
|
|
Our flight leaves OR Tambo at 10h40 and will arrive in
Livingstone at 12h30. The hotel we are
keen to book into on the Zambian side is
The Zambezi
Sun, which literally has the
Victoria Falls at the foot of its
garden!
You will be keen to stretch your legs
and view the Falls – remember at this
time the falls are pretty full and it is
suggested that you come prepared with a
'rain-mac' and umbrella!
Tonight dinner will be 'in house' at The
Zambezi Sun. |
|
Day 3: Tuesday |
|
 |
 |
|
We will need to have an early breakfast today as we take a
tour to the
Chobe Reserve in Botswana.
Your day will be very exciting with a
game drive, lunch at
Mowana Lodge
and a boat cruise.
Mowana – meaning Baobab, is a luxury lodge
situated a mere 100km west of Victoria
Falls, on the Chobe River, a short
distance from the entrance to the Chobe
National Park. The park is world
renowned for its elephant population –
the greatest concentration of these
magnificent creatures on the continent.
After a full day out we will arrange a
light snack at the hotel on our return.
|
Day 4: Wednesday |
|
 |
 |
|
|
Mkuni Village
is close to the Hotel
and it is here that we
will spend a few hours
this morning absorbing
local life in Zambia.
It is home to Chief
Mkuni and about 7000
Leya people. It is a
well known fact that the
Zambians are very
friendly people and
openly welcome visitors!
The afternoon
will be free to allow
you to relax at the
hotel pool for a while.
Be ready by late
afternoon for a
sunset cruise on the
African Queen/African
Princess.
This will be something
you will not easily
forget. Dinner tonight
will be in the form of a
buffet at the hotel. |
|
|
|
Day 5: Thursday |
|
There are several options available for today –
·
A float on the
Zambezi River with a
bush picnic lunch.
This is a leisurely
way to float down
the river and maybe
even see some hippos
or crocodiles.
·
A guided tour of the
Falls or a steam
train trip across
the Victoria Falls
bridge.
·
Perhaps even a
helicopter flight
over the Falls –
(experts say this is
something
extraordinary!)-optional
extra for your
account.
Dinner tonight will be
at a restaurant in
Livingstone,
specializing in Zambian
cuisine. |
|
|
|
Day 6: Friday |
|
 |
|
|
Have a last look at the falls
and
enjoy a leisurely breakfast
today as we will need to be at
the airport by 11h15 for our
flight back to OR Tambo Airport
at 13h15. We will be booked
back to Cape Town on a flight
after 16h00 allowing us time to
transfer in the airport. Hylton
Ross shuttles will be waiting at
Cape Town airport to transport
us to our homes. |
