Nestled in the rolling hills, under the Overberg’s big sky, the towns along The Cape Country Meander are home to some of the region’s best food and wine. From fine dining in Greyton to fresh produce and home baked-goodies at farm stalls along the N2, there is no shortage of delicious refreshments and tasty treats. Slow down, turn off the highway and enjoy country hospitality at it’s best.
Planning is underway for this tour and we will overnight in one or two of the towns along the way so that we can feel as much as we can of the character of the area, it’s people, crafts and unique way of life.

The Cape Country Meander stretches along 100km of the N2, an elegant meander between eight delightful country towns - Botrivier, Caledon, the Elgin Valley/ Grabouw, Genadendal, Greyton, Riviersonderend, Tesselaarsdal and Villiersdorp on Cape Town’s doorstep. Each boasts its own distinctive character, yet share the same magical landscapes and authentic country flavour and charm.

A quote on the Meander website says it all: "Spend time in villages like Greyton and Genadendal and before you know it you’ll be doing the strangest things, like buying a pumpkin the size of a small child because it looks so beautiful and you’re convinced you’ll make pumpkin fritters like the ones you remember eating when you were growing up".
“That’s the thing with these sorts of villages: they’re beautiful, charming and completely intoxicating …” in the words of the writer, Karena du Plessis (Source: The Overberg, published by Struik).
A comprehensive information brochure is now available (see below); in the meantime book your space on this tour! Our normal recce is now complete and we have reserved accommodation in Greyton. Have a look at the official Meander site and open and save an information brochure
