Langkloof Roses outside
Wellington makes for a stunning
day out in the country! The
theme of a French countryside
venue fits the picture
perfectly.
A first stop had the
tills ringing at The
Dried Fruit Shop en
route to the farm.
With 37 ladies shopping
there were two very
patient men also
standing in line to pay
- What A Wait!!
The entrance to the Tea
Room presents a restful
atmosphere which extends
into the casually
comfortable seating
area, beckoning you to
come in and relax!
The freshly picked roses
waiting to be bundled in
their signature brown
paper are so very fresh
and the fragrance when
we entered the room was
unreal.
The stained glass
windows frame the
beautiful rose garden
beyond.
The theme of flowers is
kept throughout and
their tea cups all set
out waiting for takers,
completed the scene.
Jenny decided a jug of
fresh water with lemon
and mint would do for
her.
Two of the ladies took
their mugs of tea with
them into the garden. We
had the resident dog
accompany us as well.
A stroll amongst the
beautiful roses had us
all 'oohing-and-aahing'.........a
few even decided they
had to have a
Green-sleeves rose for
their home garden.
This rose starts out as
pink and then turns
green. So, a stop
at Ludwigs rose garden
on the way home was in
order! (The pork
butchery also had tills
ringing!).
Our buffet lunch was
spread out on the
counter - Chicken
stuffed with feta and
herbs, fresh foccacio
breads with vegetables
and a cheese board with
fresh strawberries
looked so good before
everyone tucked in to
the food.
Then the ladies started
helping themselves and
very quickly the
platters were
demolished.
Cecelia decided to find
herself a quaint (&
quiet) little table
outside to enjoy her
lunch.
The ladies with their
rose purchases.
Roses bring delight to
every
lady..............who
can say no to a rose?
Super to take home a
fabulous bunch.
Our new member, Jenny,
smiles demurely!
There is an old antique
piano in the tea room
and Ingrid played
"Chopsticks" while
Theresa remembered a
music piece which her
grandchildren play and
she attempted to play
this for us. A very good
effort, Theresa - at
least you tried!
When I called for piano
players - I was met with
stony
stares................
Weddings are conducted
in their quaint church
with the piano providing
the accompaniment.
The restored 1854 Manor
House furnished with
velvets and King Arthur
chandeliers has a classy
mystic to it and a bar
area available for your
use (wedding receptions,
functions etc). Langkloof Farm
then becomes a little
village, a French love
affair!
A single rose can be my garden... a single friend, my world
