TIMEOUT - Previous Outings

L'ERMITAGE / BREAD & WINE RESTAURANT
Thursday 28th March '09

The day dawned with 60% rain predicted - but, the hardened Time Out Ladies turned up for the coach appropriately dressed (warm). When we arrived at the fabulous L'Ermitage Estate the staff was ready and waiting with umbrellas to assist us inside to experience the welcoming fire  and decadent chocolate and carrot cake which they had prepared for us!

L'Ermitage is positioned high up on the hill outside Franschhoek and boasts a chateau and 36 charming private villas.

The ladies enjoyed a private tour around the estate, a look at one of the two bedroomed villas and a visit to their fabulous deli, which stocks everything you need to pamper yourself.  What delightful smells came out of this bakery!

Life doesn't get better than this says Dawn to Joy and Erika, whilst Jenny gave Yvonne a neck massage to relieve her 'tension'

Ingrid settled herself  into a huge armchair for complete relaxation and visitor Theresa admired the flowers

The chapel is so beautiful and we were spoiled by Ben who removed his shoes and settled down to play the 'bridal march' on the organ - "Ladies first book the chapel for your new wedding and then find a partner" he told us all!

Ben also played the piano for us.
Press play and " feel the mood"

We were spoiled and entertained - one lady remarked that she felt as if she was on a ship - she felt so happy and content!

After a bit of 'gathering' in Franschhoek, the ladies were spoiled at the Bread and Wine Restaurant where the chef was summonsed out of the kitchen - he was rewarded with a round of applause and a handshake from the ladies!
The chandelier was very impressive

Bread and Wine is indeed a very relaxed and laid-back restaurant with delicious food. Proof of this was the chicken with mushrooms a la greque with potato fondant, and pea veloute - "delicious" was the general comment from everyone!  Many bought their chocolate fudge - totally decadent!

What a super way to spend a wet day in the country!
