Feathers Inn
Piketberg

Feathers Inn is Piketberg's new boutique up-market self catering / bed and breakfast accommodation of choice, widely acclaimed as the destination that has brought back the essence of early 20th century style and ambiance to the Swartland area.

Four years of hard work and dedicated restoration has brought Nola & George Fletcher to the point of opening Feathers Inn.  This property formerly known as the Commercial Hotel was extremely tired and dilapidated.  The Scottish surname Fletcher refers to someone who made feather tipped arrows.  Each unit is named after a bird, but in a tasteful way the rooms are decorated in the style of the country from which each bird hails.  For example a night in the Egyptian Goose suite will leave you feeling like a Pharaoh; The Gallic Rooster is decorated in a French country style!
When you look from the balconies, you get an eagle's eye view of the town and views to die for - a fabulous garden complete with swimming pool, Jacuzzi and outside bar will assure you of a wonderful break-away.
Their outside bandstand is perfect for weddings, musical soirees, or high tea.  Archers Bistro. their on-site restaurant is where we will enjoy our lunch today.  They also have a converted barn which is their new conference room where our two invited guests, Garry & Nicky will reveal what keeps them busy in Koringberg, some 20 km from Piketberg.
We recently paid a visit to Nicky & Garry's farm and enthusiastically listened to their "story" whilst enjoying coffee and freshly baked apple pie. Nicky makes exquisite teddy bears out of natural fur.  If you no longer wear your fur, he will turn it into a teddy bear.  Their attic comes alive with these bears.  Garry, on the other hand is constantly experimenting with new food product under the label - STAGS - Stay Abreast of Home Gourmets.  An interesting day is sure to make you return home very excited about this little "Swartland dorpie"
Whilst undertaking our recce recently we visited a monthly farmers market which is held on a farm in Bo Piketberg. We were enthusiastically welcomed and learned about the many interesting participants from Intaba Jam producers, apple orchards, micro mead distillers, Persimmon growers etc, all of which made us vow to plan a week-end trip to attend another market and visit crafters in the area. We will stay at Feathers Inn. Planning is already underway.
